OSTanCommons:Rules and Guidelines
The following serve as a set of guidelines, and in some cases rules, for editing the website. Guidelines are not absolute and serve as little more than recommendations, while rules may only be ignored under exigent circumstances.
Rules
Do not editorialize

Do not editorialize your opinions into articles. Editorializing is the act of, rather than acting as a neutral maintainer of an encyclopedia, inserting subjective or personal opinions into articles. Editors are fully permitted to hold whatever opinions, no matter how subversive of any popular set of morals they are, but not to express them in ways that conflict with OS-Tan Commons' goal of being completely neutral and impartial. If you are found to editorialize or otherwise push your point of view onto the site's content, you will be deemed irredeemable and not compatible with the site's point of view, and permanently blocked.
Do not edit in bad faith
Editing in bad faith is the act of editing pages in any other interest than the encyclopedia's. While OS-Tan Commons' administration cannot and will not make any attempt to read its editors minds, we may conclude bad faith if patterns of editorializing behavior (if appealed and continued), general uncouthness, or any other factors Administration may subjectively conclude to be hallmarks of bad-faith editing. This rule also applies to vandalism, raiding, and any other clearly disruptive behavior.
Do not upload any content that violates United States law
The title of this rule is quite self-explanatory. Do not upload or share links to any content that violates applicable United States law. Obscenity law, however, has a different status. Obscenity law in the United States, such as 18 U.S. Code § 1462 [1], are entirely subjective and do not have an objective national standard for deeming content obscene. As obscenity is a matter regulated by the United States constitution, and not by OS-Tan Commons' administration or any of its users, we will not make any attempts to arbit what of a users' edits counts as obscene.

=State of the wiki
A significant portion of content on OS-Tan Commons is, as of April 2026, imported from OS-Tan Collections. Licensing information for such content can be found here and distinguished from native edits by the "import>" prefix before the edits under View History.
